HOW LARGE IMAGES ARE COSTING YOU BUSINESS

We all love beautiful graphics and appealing images. Have you ever seen a photo on social media that absolutely grabs your attention and you stopped scrolling?!

That feeling is what captivates you to learn more about the person who posted the photo. If you see enough photos and videos on their social media feed that are appealing and resonate with you, you will probably like that content. You may even follow the person's profile to make sure you keep seeing their appealing content on your social media feed.

Websites can have a very similar effect to first time and recurring visitors...if they are designed correctly.

Large banners on websites including slide shows, product promotions and vivid photography are great for aesthetics and catching a visitor's attention. However, these beautiful graphics can be the main cause of your website losing visitors.

We live in an age of instant gratification and people want what they want when they want it. People want what they want NOW.

If a prospective client / customer visits your website and it takes more than three seconds to load, they will most likely leave. That's pretty unfortunate, right?

This means a few things...

  1. You have to make sure your website loads in under three seconds. Ideally, 1-2 seconds is an amazing load time for optimal conversion.

  2. You have to make sure you capture your prospective visitor's attention immediately once they land on your website homepage.

  3. You have to OPTIMIZE YOUR IMAGES to make sure they are not slowing down your website load time.
